Last week, Qatar SC announced that they would be parting ways with the Witbank native. The South African attacker joined the Qatari Stars League side at the start of the year, but after only six months in the Middle East, he has now departed.
There have been bounds of speculation about where the forward will end up, with Premier Soccer League sides such as Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs linked with the Bafana Bafana star.
However, rumours have been just as strong about a potential return to Egypt, and according to North African publication Dostor, he is in "advanced negotiations" with North African outfit Zamalek.
Tau arrived in Doha from Al Ahly. However, prior to the move to Qatar, it was alleged that the White Knights were extremely keen on signing the player.
Now it seems the move is getting close to completion, as Tau is not the only former Red Devils star poised for a dramatic switch to their arch-rivals. The same report claims that Mohamed Sherif, as well as Ahmed Abdelkader, are also on the verge of signing for the five-time African champions.

Abdelkader was with Tau at Qatar SC, while Sherif was in Saudi Arabia with Al-Khaleej. Both are set to be free agents at the end of the month, leaving them free to sign for any club of their choosing – and right now, it seems the White Castle are the frontrunners for the ex-Ahly trio.
