After two months of back-and-forths regarding the eligibility of Tendai Ndoro, a verdict was handed down on Tuesday afternoon. Ndoro played for three different clubs in one season, which is against FIFA rules.
SAFA found Ajax Cape Town guilty of fielding the ineligible striker and docked the Urban Warriors seven points, which resulted in them being unexpectedly relegated. Platinum Stars, who were previously relegated, have now been elevated to the promotional/relegation play-offs.
Supporters Club members have reacted to the news that caused a chaotic reshuffling in the Absa Premiership league table, with SuperSport United replacing AmaZulu in the top eight, and Usuthu dropping into the bottom half of the table.
"The whole thing is not affecting Ajax only, now Amazulu are out of the top eight. This is so insane and the SAFA brass should hang their heads in shame." – EagleEye
"Our league is really taking us back. No improvement and why did they take so long? Everything was clear from day one, but now suddenly everything changed from the table, not on the field of play." – Masevens
"I'm confused about this. How can the PSL register a player knowing the rules, and turn around and punish the club? Whoever knows the rules, please explain them to me." – Zwie10
"What a shock! I am lost for words." – STOANICIOUS
"This is not fair." – juju banned lwandle hater
"Not fair. This player was registered with the PSL and conditions should have been shared with Ajax. Secondly, Ajax should have been informed to stop using the player. This is victimisation." – Pep G junior
"SuperSport was fighting relegation in the last game, and now they are seventh." – Khosism
"They say all animals are equals, but others are more equal than the other. I don't blame the PSL, I blame Ajax. Remember, the rule says that the PSL may register a player eligible to play or not; however, the final decision rests with the club to field the player." – Demax13
