Let's take a closer look...

Comments

Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos had revealed his intentions to SAFA President Dr Danny Jordaan to vacate his post just one day after South Africa's AFCON 2023 campaign.

One day was all it took after achieving a bronze medal finish at AFCON in the Ivory Coast for Broos to decide he wanted to step down as Bafana coach.

The 71-year-old had plans to leave his Bafana gig citing constant criticism, being away from his grandchildren and the lack of support from the Premier Soccer League for his decision, which was not accepted by Jordaan.

Here's how the readers reacted to the "Why Broos 'Resigned' One Day After AFCON Heroics"  story:

"South African supporters are just bitter people, they didn't even expect 3rd place at AFCON, now that you gave them something to be happy with, they say you can go. I wish for him to go and for SAFA to give the role to a South African coach again, and let's see how they perform," says madlangane.h.

"This coach is tired. We can't beg someone who gets a salary. Jordaan can let him go. We have enough coaching talent in our country. He did good work with most of the players coming from the mighty Sundowns, under a young, energetic coach in Rulani Mokwena," says user606636.

"Are you sure we have enough coaching talents? Mokoena is not a coach that can build anything, his failure at Pirates should tell you that," replies madlangane.h.

"Broos must just be truthful. He has been offered a job in Belgium and wants to go and retire. Every national team coach has to deal with the opposing schedules of the league (who are actually the employers of the players and have to look after their own interests) and the national team.

"The only way to deal with that is for SAFA to compensate the PSL clubs for providing their players (employees) to the national team. Otherwise, who in his or her right mind would be happy to have his or her investment diluted?" asks msanisto.

"Let him go. They all do the same thing after achieving something, SAFA won't bring his family here for him nor increase his salary because that's wat he wants. Please, let this lunatic go, he was busy lying to us saying he won't go unless SAFA fire him but behind the scenes, he is telling them he wants to go, this old man isn't trustworthy.

"Imagine his timing? so he knew that what he said was going to shock Jordaan, but still he continued to tell him at the wrong time and place, is he getting kicks when doing this? I suspect he lied to Sead Ramovic about apologizing to Rulani. Jordaan, let him go," says SkyKBY.

"Broos knows he can't repeat what he achieved, that's why he wants to run away," says @Terry2007.

Kaizer Chiefs were held to a goalless draw by the struggling Moroka Swallows in a Soweto derby clash at FNB Stadium on Saturday.

Chiefs continued their goal drought in open play since the local football resumed this year, despite the return of Keagan Dolly to their starting line up.

In the 29th minute, Ashley du Preez had a goal disallowed, with Chiefs suffered a blow when Edmilson Dove was sent off early in the second half

The draw leaves Chiefs further away from the top of the standings in sixth position on 26 points, 16 points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.

Here's how the readers reacted to the "Winless In 2024: Chiefs Drop Points In Soweto Derby" story:

"When you look or watch football or follow a soccer team, to try to learn the improvement of the the team and the weakness, Chiefs don't score goals and they don't concede goals out of 8 games they concede only 1 goal, it's an improvement in defending. I think Johnson must now work hard on attacking," says Scara 11.

"For Swallows, it's a really matter of avoiding relegation and start afresh because really, it's not looking good at all. Chairman, please get this team financial muscles to get good quality players or sell it to those who could run it better," says mtshalitsholofelo05.

"Chiefs supporters are suffering from post traumatic stress and this isn't good for their health," says @ThizaK.

"The ground is still available for Jasond Gonzalez to hit it. How is Basomboli and Keagan Dolly? Until Ramovic is linked with Chiefs, nothing will come right," says afl.

"It's not only this game that makes you believe it was a waste TV airtime time, the Pirates vs Polokwane City game was also a huge disappointment. It looks like the standard of football has regressed to a level of Eswatini League or any amateur football league in RSA. This excludes the ever improving and impressive Mamelodi Sundowns," says maxncane.

"Maybe it's not the standard that is the problem, I think it's the lack of motivation to perform at a high level for all the games. You should see these players when they come up against Sundowns, they perform extremely well and execute the tactics and game plan well.

"So, why can't they do that every game they play? Sundowns players are encouraged to perform through a well structured system, they win three games in a row, their phones light up like a Christmas with 20k bonuses," says SkyKBY.

"This Chiefs team is abusing their supporters' emotions. Maybe they need to make a ritual," says Bra Zee.

"Not a good advent of soccer in Chiefs and Swallows' game. Very disappointing to watch. Chiefs needs a complete overhaul. Swallows, it's just a matter of avoiding relegation and to start all over again next season," says makausemakause53.

"Yazi, I have realised my problem with this team is the love I have for them. I have been thinking of leaving this team for a while now but there is no team to join in the PSL, that's where my problem is. Anyway, Khosi for life," says T.sibiya.

"The new recruits are taking too long to adapt. Mr. Nene used to recruit from deep in the rural areas and townships. We all know those talents. The present scouts are recruiting from other teams. A player may be good at his club but that doesn't mean that they will adjust to Chiefs. The other factor is sabotage," says Soccer Fanatic.

"Good comment. Townships are good talent base in RSA," replies maxncane.

"How old are you? You've been going on a lot about the Nene theory. The problem with you Chiefs supporters, you're still entangled to the dubious club history," replies Shikabala.
