Tau has been in and out of Ahly's starting XI during the knockout stages of the competition as he nursed an ankle injury.
He missed the second leg of their quarter-final against Simba, and only returned to action in the second half of the first leg of their semi-final against TP Mazembe.
Former Ahly central defender Diyaa El Sayed has now called for head coach Marcel Koller to give Tau a rest ahead of the massive clash against the Tunisian outfit.
"It is very important for some players to rest, such as Ali Maaloul and Percy Tau, and the latter is clearly exhausted and is not performing well," the 63-year-old told Al Masry Al Youm
"The team is playing four matches in 12 days, and Koller is preparing for the final.
