Bafana had an anticlimax after their impressive showing at the Africa Cup of Nations, where they finished third after their first match since then was a 1-1 draw against 164th-ranked Andorra last Thursday.
Andorra opened the scoring within the first five minutes before Elias Mokwana rescued a draw with the equaliser 20 minutes later.
South Africa are preparing for the resumption of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in June, where they have back-to-back matches against Nigeria and Zimbabwe.
Algeria, on the other hand, are on a rebuilding phase after they parted ways with coach Djamel Belmadi following their group stage exit at the recent Afcon tournament.
New head coach Vladimir Petkovic started his reign with a 3-2 victory over Bolivia last Friday in the FIFA Series international friendly.
The Desert Foxes are also preparing for the resumption of the World Cup qualifiers, where they are set to come up against Guinea and Uganda in June.
The last time the sides met was in the 2015 Afcon tournament in the group stages, where Algeria thrashed Bafana 3-1.
