Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Siyethemba Sithebe has expressed his concern with the club's current form - and with good reason, but the midfielder has rallied on his teammates to save what is left of Amakhosi's season.

On a personal front he has every reason to smile after he managed to work his way back into the Chiefs starting XI after a period on the sidelines; however, the same cannot be said from a club perspective.

Still without a win in 2024 and fighting to hold onto their top eight spot, Chiefs' second half of the season has been unflattering to say the least.

The Glamour Boys do have seven matches in which they can salvage their season by finishing in a respectable position on the log, starting with this weekend's clash against Richards Bay, a club fighting for their lives in the relegation zone.

“Obviously we are concerned. Especially when we look at some of the games where we made a lot of opportunities, but the ball just wasn’t going into the net. As players, we need to pull up our socks and keep working as hard as we can in the remaining games,” he told the club's official website.

“They are near the bottom of the log and fighting for their survival, so it’s going to be a hard match, but we need those points just as much and therefore we will be going all out to beat them. We want to first secure our place in the top eight, but we want more than that. We still want to qualify for a CAF competition next season,” he added.

As for his restoration to the starting XI, Sithebe could not help but express his delight.

"I am really happy to have got back into the team and be given a chance to make a strong comeback, playing the full 90 minutes. I am proud of myself for that,” he said.
