Earlier this season, rumours began circulating about Los Blancos star Brahim Diaz being of interest to Walid Regragui and the Moroccan national team.
The 24-year-old's father is from the north African nation, and in a bid to build on their 2022 FIFA World Cup semi-final appearance, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation reportedly wants to make their squad even better.
The former Manchester City youth player has made just one appearance for La Furia Roja's senior side to date, but since playing and scoring against Lithuania in a friendly in 2021, the versatile forward has not donned the famous red of Spain's national team.
Now, Diaz looks set to wear an African red shirt, with reports stating he will be called up for the Atlas Lions' next selection, and this has seemingly not gone down well with his club Real as, according to The Athletic.
Los Blancos are said to believe Spain have made a mistake in not selecting the Malaga native since that lone appearance three years ago.
Diaz has eight goals and four assists in all competitions for Carlo Ancelotti's team so far this season as he builds on what was a successful loan spell at AC Milan between 2020 and 2023.
