The 25-year-old picked up Player of the Month for for August and ended as Chiefs' top scorer with nine goals.
Masango revealed he was inspired by the likes of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Arjen Robben, who are renowned for being goal-scoring wide men.
"I got inspired by watching the likes of Christiano Ronaldo, Messi, Robben and Ribery," Masango said after receiving his award. "They are all wingers, who score goals."
Masango added that he never gave up, despite only starting one league game in the 2013/2014 campaign.
"I am grateful that the hard work put in finally bore fruit," he said.
"I never gave up, despite not getting much game time. I put in extra work at training, often staying behind to focus on, for example, finishing, crossing and endurance."
"We played a friendly. Katlego Mphela got injured and I replaced him. I netted once and created another via an assist. That's when it all started to click."
