TS Galaxy is open to selling the team's captain, Given Msimango, to Orlando Pirates to alleviate the club's financial woes, insiders have informed the Siya crew.

As reported in edition 1312 of Soccer Laduma, the Soweto giants have identified Msimango as a potential signing as the club is widening the search for a top defender to add to Jose Riveiro's squad.

Indications are that the Spaniard is looking to add numbers and quality to the team's defence, with the Buccaneers having appeared to struggle to replace the regular starters when injuries and suspensions started to creep in.

Against Swallows FC in Bucs' 4-1 victory on Friday, the head coach opted for young Ndumiso Ngiba from the DStv Diski Challenge team to be included in the matchday squad in the absence of suspended Nkosinathi Sibisi, while Sandile Mthethwa played alongside Tapelo Xoki for his second appearance in the league this season.

With Pirates sniffing around to potentially win the race for the signature of the in-demand Msimango, sources have indicated that Galaxy is open to selling the 25-year-old to Bucs for the right price.

"It is not a secret anymore that TS Galaxy have been experiencing financial challenges and the club will do anything to raise funds to improve the situation even if that means selling some of the top players in the team," said a source.

"The club will be open to listening to offers for the player even though he is an important member of the team. Should Pirates make an offer, Galaxy will listen to possibly cash in on the transfer," the source added.

Msimango's contract runs until 2025 after his original deal with the club was extended by three more years in June last year.
