The club, coached by Jess Thorup, will pit themselves against TS Galaxy and Young Africans respectively, in a series of friendly matches as part of the Mpumalanga Premier's National Cup.
Augsburg received a warm welcome upon their arrival in Mbombela, where they will be based for the duration of the next week.
Over and above their exploits on the field, the Schaffer brothers as Augsburg is known, will be fully immersing themselves in the province with visits to landmarks such as the Kruger National Park during their stay.
The club has also ensured that they leave a lasting legacy as they invested into the #Football4wash project for the next three years, where water infrastructure is being constructed and improved in local educational facilities.
This to ensure that clean water is supplied to, a decision that has been explained by the club's CEO.
"Engaging with the local community is a very personal matter for us. We think it's normal to turn on the tap and to have plentiful amounts of clean water. However, this hasn't been a reality in many parts of the world for a long time, and in South Africa, lots of areas of the country don't have guaranteed access to sufficient water and drinking water," club CEO Michael Ströll told the club's official website.

"It quickly became clear that our community work would focus on water. We're really pleased to be supporting such a great project in South Africa in Football4WASH, which is showing the uniting nature of football. The fact that this is a long-term engagement which will sustainably improve people's daily life makes it an even more important matter to us," he continued.
