Nange: I Refused To Do An Operation

SuperSport United Phathutshedzo Nange has revealed that he decided against going for an operation during the early years of his playing career, which is why he has struggled at times with an ankle injury.

Last season, while he was at Kaizer Chiefs, Nange spent some time on the sidelines and it affected his chances of getting game time. By the time he left Amakhosi, the midfielder has not featured much and joined SuperSport needing to catch up with the rest of the players in terms of fitness.

Nange has had a difficult first season with Matsatsantsa, struggling to break into the starting line-up under head coach Gavin Hunt. He has made 17 appearances, but only eight of them have as a starter.

"I got injured when I was young, at the time when I was playing for JDR (Stars). I was supposed to do an operation on my ankle, but I did not do it, the 32-year-old midfielder said.

"I refused to do an operation because I was young. So, it's still letting me down a bit, especially now because I did not do the operation at that time. Mostly, it's the ankle (that is the problem). Sometimes I get a small twist and it gets swollen and stuff.

Nange, however, does not want to spend time regretting his decision not to do the operation all those years ago.
