Following a season where he clinched individual accolades, Monnapule Saleng experienced a noticeable dip in form at Orlando Pirates, moving from winning awards to a less impactful presence on the field.
Despite this downturn, former Pirates midfielder Solomon Solly Mathe remains optimistic about Saleng's potential and suitability for the team going forward.

In an exclusive interview with Soccer Laduma, Mathe expressed his belief that Saleng still possesses the qualities that make him a valuable asset for Pirates. He emphasized that with consistent playtime and the right opportunities, Saleng could regain his form and secure his place in the starting line-up.
"For me Saleng should stay at Pirates and fight for his position. Remember he wasn't playing in the first round last season and he only came back in the second round and he did well. He showed the class we know him for. He must just keep on working hard and wait for his turn and when it comes he must make sure he keeps his position in the first eleven," Mathe told Soccer Laduma.
Mathe also highlighted Saleng's inherent skills and his ability to make a significant impact on the pitch.

"He's quality that boy. He can score and create for his team and he's a hard worker. All he needs is to keep consistent in his game and give the same energy in each and every game that he plays. But they can first start him on the bench and once he rediscovers his form and after that he should be in be in the first eleven. They need him there and he should stay in the team," Mathe observed.
