Polokwane City advanced to the next round of the Nedbank Cup, after recording a 3-1 win over ABC Motsepe League outfit, African All Stars on Wednesday evening.
All Stars were holding their own in midfield and they nearly went ahead in the eighth minute, as Setjhaba Mmuso had a crack of a shot from long range but it went high.
Rise and Shine eventually broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute, as Puleng Tlolane fired home a low effort from outside of the box, 1-0.
The visitors were not sitting back and did have a go at the Polokwane defence, but their final pass let them down.
The match went into the interval with Polokwane City leading African All Stars by 1-0.
Regional Mhlanga had an opportunity to equalise for All Stars in the 51st minute but his left-footed curler sailed narrowly wide of the upright.
The ABC Motsepe outfit went agonisingly close to leveling matters in the 79th minute Thomas Kgope's effort struck the underside of the bar.
Polokwane doubled their after 73 minutes, as Phiri fired home a superb effort from 25- yards out, 2-0.
It was 3-0 in the 85th minute as Walter Musona latched onto a through, before beating two defenders and the goalkeeper to slot into an empy.
The visitors did manage to grab a consolation form the penalty spot after Thapelo Tshilo committed a foul in the box. Mohau Motaung converted the spot-kick.
