What Was Key For Pirates In MTN8 Journey...

Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro has described what gives him the most satisfaction about leading the current group of players at the club.

Riveiro helped Pirates win the MTN8 trophy at his first attempt and was asked whether he feels he's the right man for the job after they were crowned champions at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

"There's a very thin line between failure and success, if you want to put the line because we got a good result, it's fine," Riveiro told journalists in a press conference.

"But in sport, in competition there's much more things to consider you know to answer your question if I'm the right person (for the job) or not.

"I'm the right person because I'm the person who is here and leading the group until someone decides something different, it's the life of the coaches, it's like that," he said.

"I try to be (have sportsmanship) in every scenario, accept every situation with fair play. I don't go that deep, thinking I'm the right person, I'm just a person who is there, I'm trying to do my best every day."

Pirates suffered injuries leading up to the MTN8 final, as Innocent Maela and Goodman Mosele were casualties from the Soweto Derby and Nkosinathi Sibisi also had to be replaced early in the final against AmaZulu with a calf injury.

Riveiro went on to attribute their success, despite the injury setbacks, to the togetherness in the group, the process of which is something close to his heart.

"When we speak frequently or I try to speak sometimes frequently about the process, that's what it means; the process. It's about, if you manage to make everyone part of something, in sport, in businesses, in your personal life, everything it's gonna be much more easier," he said.

"It's easy now but it's difficult, if they understand that it's great to be part of one collective... They are not thinking if they played five minutes or 50 (minutes), they played the last game, what's going to happen next week.

"It's difficult, it's kind of a dream. We know that you can only keep that for the long time if you get good results. I'm not that naïve to think that you can keep the harmony and spirit if you're not getting good results," he continued.

"But I think this (team spirit) is coming first and then the results are coming. So they are part of the group, happiness is only happiness if you can share it with someone, that's a great part of our job.

"You know, make something, with a group of people and make it work. It's something that provokes satisfaction, I cannot even explain (to) you and personally that's why I'm a football coach," he added.
