Kaizer Chiefs have provided clarity over why their development coach served as ball boys in their midweek Premiership clash against Cape Town Spurs.
The Chiefs ball boy situation has been thrust into the spotlight in recent times with two players in Puso Dithejane and Bafana Zitha suspended by the club after refusing to serve as ball boys. Dithejane has subsequently joined TS Galaxy.

Eyebrows were raised when the club's youth development coaches took to the field in Wednesday's match.
Only this time, the coaches were not on the sidelines barking instructions to their youth players as they do on a weekly basis, rather, they were serving as ball boys - much to the surprise of the few in attendance at an empty FNB Stadium.
Providing clarity on the matter, Chiefs took to social media to thank the coaches who stepped in for their DStv Diski players, many of whom were writing their matric exams.
"Special thanks to the KCYDA Coaches for volunteering to work as Ball Retrievers at last night's game while some of the Development Players were studying for their exams," the club wrote.

It remains to be seen whether the coaches will continue to assist with ball boy duties in this Saturday's highly anticipated Soweto Derby.
