Junior Khanye has been impressed with Kaizer Chiefs' Kabelo Mahlasela based on the few matches the midfielder has played this season to a point that he wanted to speak to the player's father about his career.
Despite being disrupted by injuries in his progress at times, Mahlasela has managed to impress for Amakhosi whenever he was selected in the team by coach Ernst Middendorp.

Khanye believes that the 28-year-old former Bloemfontein Celtic player could contribute a lot to Chiefs' progress in upcoming matches, should he stay injury-free and get regular game-time in the German coach's team.
"Kabelo Mahlasela has been coming alright at Chiefs with the progress he has been making. I was with his father recently and I wanted to ask him to tell the boy to pray a lot because I'm worried that the injuries he has been getting could derail his career. I didn't get that opportunity to speak to the father because there were a lot of people where we were and it was busy," said Khanye.

Mahlasela is rated among the top signings for Chiefs by the Daveyton-born player.
"Of Chiefs' recent signings, I think Mahlasela…I'm not saying he is going to be the best compared to players like (Lebogang) Manyama and others, but he is the player that has something in him for Chiefs. There's something he can do for the club, while playing alongside Khama Billiat," Khanye added.
