Sadio Mane has broken his silence since defeating his Liverpool teammate Mohamed Salah in the recent FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
With the winner of the ticket to Qatar being decided from the penalty spot on Tuesday, it was Mane who fired the Lions of Teranga to the 2022 World Cup when he scored the winning spot-kick for his side.
Salah, Ahmed "Zizo" Sayed, and Mostafa Mohamed missed their kicks in the shootout, with Amr El Soleya being the only player score for the Pharaohs, while Bamba Diang and Ismailia Sarr scored the other two penalties for Senegal.
In Cameroon in February, Mane and his Senegalese contingent also walked away as winners over the Egyptians during the Africa Cup of Nations final – via a penalty shootout too.
The former Southampton forward has since insisted he was lucky to emerge victorious over his Liverpool colleague Salah.
"I won twice and he lost twice, I was luckier to come out on top," Mane replied when he was asked what he would say to Salah by ONTime Sports.
"I am very proud that we won the Africa Cup of Nations and now qualified for the World Cup, it's a dream I had."
Mane also spoke of the importance of their qualification journey.
"I believe it was a difficult game for both teams," he added.
"Our fans pushed us to win and we didn't stop fighting.
"We knew the game wouldn't be easy, but we pressed to score."
Salah and Mane will return to club action over the coming days, with title contenders Liverpool set to take on Watford this weekend in a must-win match for Jurgen Klopp's side.
