UEFA Champions League Result: Real Madrid 5-1 Legia Warsaw Date: 18 October 2016 Venue: Santiago Bernabeu Real Madrid made quick work of Legia Warsaw on Tuesday night, beating the visitors 5-1 in the Champions League. The hosts created a chance early in the clash as Cristiano Ronaldo curled a dangerous cross towards the far post for Gareth Bale, but he was unable to hit the target with his first-time shot. However, the Welshman made up for his miss in the 16th minute. Bale was picked out on the right wing and skipped past Hlousek before firing home a low shot from within the penalty area. Only three minutes later Los Blancos found themselves two goals clear. Karim Benzema received the ball on the left flank and cut it back for Marcelo who unleashed a shot at goal. The ball took a wicked deflection off Tomasz Jodlowiec before beating the goalkeeper for an own goal. Legia seemed to be back in the game when they were awarded a penalty shortly after going 2-0 down. Miroslav Radovic was tripped in the area by Danilo, and stepped up to convert the spot kick. However, the two-goal cushion was restored before the break. Bale and Danilo combined to play Ronaldo into a good position. He seemed to line up a shot but instead sent the ball to Marco Asensio who slotted it. Real Madrid were comfortable after the interval and secured the three points just past the hour mark. Morata surged down the left wing before crossing for Lucas Vazquez who volleyed home. A fifth goal arrived for the hosts in the last six minutes when Ronaldo broke down the left wing, beating two players before teeing up Morata who finished it off for a dominant win.
