FC Porto striker Moussa Marega scored his side's second goal in their 3-1 extra-time victory over AS Roma on Wednesday, which saw the Portuguese team progress 4-3 on aggregate.

In doing so, Marega has now scored in six consecutive UCL appearances this season – becoming only the sixth player in history to do so.

The Mali international scored one goal in the both group stage matches against Galatasaray and Locomotive Moscow plus once against Schalke before adding his sixth strike of the current campaign in the second leg of the round of 16 clash against Roma.

Marega missed the first leg due to a thigh muscle strain, but continued his scoring run on Wednesday night, becoming only the sixth player in history to net in at least six straight UCL games.

Marouane Chamakh (Bordeaux/Arsenal), Burak Yilmaz (Galatasaray), Edinson Cavani (Paris Saint-Germain) and Ruud van Nistelrooy (Manchester United) are others who achieve this feat, while Ronaldo holds the record for goals in the most successive UCL games – he scored in 11 consecutive Champions League matches between the 2017 and 2018.

Ronaldo's run in Real Madrid colours began in the 2016/17 UCL final and continued in the 2017/18 group stage, as well as the round of 16 and both quarter-finals, before it was halted by Bayern Munich in the semi-finals.
