FC Barcelona coach, Luis Enrique, has lauded Lionel Messi's new defensive abilities ahead of his sides Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain.
Messi has started his campaign with five goals and eight assists in all competitions, but is also working harder for the team than in previous years.
"Lionel Messi is impressive on so many levels, but he's also our number one defender, although we don't talk too much about it," Enrique explained to UEFA's official site.
"He's a very important player for us, but so are many others: the crucial thing is how they all combine together."
FC Barcelona started their La Liga campaign with five wins and one draw as well as an impressive goal difference of 17:0.
They also beat APOEL in their Champions League opener 1-0 and are yet to concede a goal in a competitive match this season.
