After Lionel Messi already went to war with FC Barcelona during the transfer window, the Argentine and the other Blaugrana captains have now again attacked the club's board in the latest wage row.
The 33-year-old recently said he wanted to put the drama around his failed transfer away from the club behind him and that everyone needs to pull in the same direction.
However, the club's board around president Josep Maria Bartomeu once again want to cut the players' wages and the way they are going about it has enraged the dressing room.
According to El Mundo, as cited by AS, the four captains – Messi, Gerard Pique, Sergio Busquets and Sergi Roberto – have sent a scathing letter to Bartomeu and his board, calling their actions "embarrassing" while saying they will "not tolerate Barcelona violating the players' rights".
"They consider the only way to achieve the goal of reducing costs is through the joint actions of all groups and sections of the club," the latter states.
"Yet, at the same time they recognise, entering into a clear contradiction, that some of the said groups and sections have already made the economic adjustments that they want."
Messi and company also state they have no intention of sitting down to the negotiating table because "having one representative at a table of thirteen members (when their salaries make up 90% of the overall wage budget) implies that our dissuasive capacity is null."
The players feel they are being made the bad boys once again after previously already put in a similar position by the board in April.
Bartomeu and his directors, though, are facing a vote of no confidence, which is expected to go ahead on 1 or 2 November, and it remains to be seen how the latest off-pitch row will end.
