The Red Devils are a club who have often showcased their spending power over the years, but none more so than at the beginning of last season, when they signed Paul Pogba from Juventus for £89.25 million (R1.4 billion), according to Transfermarkt.
The Frenchman's transfer was the most expensive not only in United's history, but in the history of world football, and these mammoth figures are seemingly becoming more and more common.
The club's latest capture, Victor Lindelof, is their fourth most expensive signing, after the aforementioned Pogba, Angel Di Maria and Anthony Martial, respectively.
Rio Ferdinand is also among the Manchester club's biggest coups, despite his move from Leeds United taking place 15 years ago, as is Juan Sebastian Veron, who signed for the club in 2001.
Former Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata is also among the Red Devils' most expensive signings, as are Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Dimitar Berbatov and Eric Bailly.
