7 Players On New FC Barcelona Boss' Wish List?

7 Players On New FC Barcelona Boss' Wish List?

Lionel Messi and company missed out on the La Liga and UEFA Champions League titles last season, but it seems new coach Ernesto Valverde has big plans and is reportedly assessing seven transfer targets.

The Catalan giants appointed Valverde, a former Barca player under Johan Cruyff, as Luis Enrique's successor at the end of May, and the new man is now tasked with revamping the squad.

While players such as Jeremy Mathieu and Arda Turan seem certain to leave, and the club will listen to offers for the likes of Rafinha and Ivan Rakitic, Valverde has put together a list of targets, according to Marca.

The new Blaugrana coach apparently wants to bring in a new right back, a central midfielder as well as another forward option, while an additional centre back could also be brought in.

Arsenal's Hector Bellerin and Paris Saint-Germain's Marco Verratti are reportedly the club's main targets, but they would cost a lot of money.

Benfica right back Nelson Semedo has been listed as a cheaper alternative if the Bellerin deal does not materialise, while OGC Nice midfielder Jean Seri could come in instead of Verratti.

Up front, the club attempted to lure Ousmane Dembele to the Camp Nou last season, but he joined Borussia Dortmund instead. It has been reported that Barca are still keen on signing the pacey and skilful winger, but their priorities might be on other targets in this window.

A cheaper alternative would be to activate the buyback clause they instilled in Gerard Deulofeu's Everton contract.

At the back, Marca claim that Barca's scouting team has also followed the progress of 22-year-old Colombia centre back Yerry Mina, who scored twice against Cameroon in a friendly on Tuesday and is on the books of Brazilian side Palmeiras.
