The Portuguese stated, after the UEFA Europa League final in May, that he had already handed his transfer wish list to executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.
The Independent has now reported that Mourinho scouted the market extensively for potential targets, and collected 25 names on his wish list.
One of those names was the club's first signing of this window, Victor Lindelof. In addition to the centre back, the United boss apparently wants to add a defensive midfielder, a winger and a forward.
Real Madrid's Alvaro Morata and Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic are linked closest with United, while Fabinho could come in as midfield reinforcement.
Other players, such as Romelu Lukaku and Antoine Griezmann were also on Mourinho's list, but have told the club they are not interested in joining in this window.
The Portuguese tactician reportedly wants his transfers to be secured as soon as possible, but negotiations can drag on because all clubs know about United's massive financial muscle and might want to get the most out of potential deals.

However, The Independent added that Mourinho's stature helps the club to secure his first-choice targets, such as Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic last season.
