Mourinho was sacked on Monday following a string of poor results, and it has since been revealed that his departure had nothing to do with the announcement that Spurs would be one of the 12 founding members of the European Super League.
The Premier League side has since confirmed that Ryan Mason will take over the reins as interim head coach for the remainder of the campaign.
While Mason's first game in charge will be a Premier League match against Southampton on Wednesday, he will face Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday.
Club chairman Daniel Levy, meanwhile, is now looking for a new manager and has identified two main targets, according to reports.
"It is no secret that Brendan Rodgers was actually the dream solution. But he has a contract with Leicester until 2025, so he is not available," Bild journalist Christian Falk said, as per TEAMtalk.
"Therefore, they (Tottenham) sound out the market and Julian Nagelsmann is a name that comes up again and again.
"I heard in Leipzig that if Bayern call, they won't give him away because they don't want to let him leave for their direct rivals in Germany, but if they call from England, I heard they might be willing to talk.
"If they pay a transfer fee and Tottenham have the money, it's possible."

It has also been claimed that Levy opted to sack Mourinho because he was fearful that Bayern could agree a deal with Nagelsmann before he himself could approach the RB Leipzig manager.
Diego Simeone's name has also come up in the discussion. The Argentine is currently the highest-paid coach in the game, with some suggesting he is keen on a new challenge having coached Atletico Madrid since 2011.
