Tau, also known as the "Lion of Judah", has not played a competitive football match since South Africa's Africa Cup of Nations semi-final defeat to Nigeria in Bouake.
The Witbank native did not train with Bafana Bafana for their subsequent third-place playoff against the Democratic Republic of Congo, and even left the national team camp early to return and rehabilitate what is believed to be a muscular injury in Cairo.
The Red Devils attacker was also not included in their latest matchday squad for their 0-0 draw in the Champions League against Algerian giants CR Belouizdad.
However, according to Veto, the reigning CAF Interclub's Men's Player of the Year is expected to return to the pitch for their upcoming continental match against Medeama SC.
It is reported that Ahly boss Marcel Koller recently held a meeting with team doctor Ahmed Gaballah to discuss Tau, with the Swiss tactician being informed that the forward would be able to travel with the team to Ghana.
One player who is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines, however, is holding midfielder Aliou Dieng.
The Mali international, like Tau, also competed at the AFCON, but since returning from the Ivory Coast, he has not trained with the Club of the Century.
