It has been a strong start to the new season for PSG and this has been thanks to a passing game that has been nothing short of brilliant this season. No team in Europe has completed their passes at a better rate than ours, and a lot of praise needs to be given to our midfielders. Even Barcelona only managed to complete 90.8% of their passes. We are sitting pretty with a 91% pass completion rate.
Kudos to the likes of Marco Verratti (94%), Serge Aurier (94%), Gregory Van Der Wiel (95.2%) and Thiago Silva (98.7%) who have all been incredibly accurate when passing the ball to their teammates so far this season.
But, I think the man that deserves the most credit is our fearless coach, Laurent Blanc, who is slowly starting to become considered as a real heavyweight amongst the elite coaches in European football. With an average of 69.5% possession, the only teams to retain the ball better than us this season are Juventus (72.4%) and Barcelona (71.9%).
And with the incredible passing display put on by our team, not to mention the sheer quality of players at our disposal, it really doesn't seem that far away that we will be one of the most feared teams in Europe. The Champions League starts next week and soon we'll be able to really test our quality against the best teams in Europe.
