The Fan Park crew has look at a few players who've made more appearances from the bench than they should have – and give some reasons as to why they should start more often at their respective clubs!
Andre Schürrle - Wolfsburg
In in his two seasons at Stamford Bridge, Schürrle was looked at more as player who would come on from the bench and make an impact in the game. He had an impressive spell at Chelsea, where he scored 14 goals and assisted 3 times for his teammates. He'd have started at any other big club, but Mourinho mainly used him as a substitute. In January, Schürrle moved to Wolfsburg, where he'll definitely expect to start more games and rightfully so.
Pedro - Barcelona
With their star-studded trio in Luis Suarez, Neymar and Lionel Messi, it's no surprise that Pedro doesn't find himself in the starting line-up week in and week out, but the winger is a player with great speed and natural goal-scoring ability. This season, where most of his appearances have been from the bench, he has scored 10 goals and created five in 35 games. He is rumoured to be on his way out of Barcelona and we think it's about time!
Marouane Fellaini – Manchester United
He hasn't got the greatest goals-scoring record, nor has he got the greatest assists record, but the Belgian has been used to great effect from the bench this season for Louis van Gaal's Manchester United. He poses a threat to any defence with his ability in the air, and is often used as a target man when United are desperate.
Juan Mata – Manchester United
Another Manchester United player who probably deserves to start more often, Juan Mata has struggled to cement a spot in the starting XI. He recently had a lengthy spell in the team, but was quick to be put back on the bench once Di Maria returned from Injury. This guy deserves much more playing time!
Loic Remy – Chelsea
The French forward has been nowhere this season for Chelsea, and it's a shame when looking at the goal-scoring record he has. He is a natural finisher, a speedster and always pops up in the right positions. Last season, he scored an impressive 14 goals from 27 games – a record teams like Everton and Southampton would take any day. However, at the moment he is even behind veteran striker Didier Drogba.
