Last season, Andre Schürrle arrived at Stamford Bridge from Bayer Leverkusen and, with everything said and done, failed to truly impress us with his performances.
In his debut season, he made 15 appearances off the bench in his 30 made in total all season and was never consistently used as a starter.
However, after winning the World Cup with Germany this summer, Schürrle seems to be finding his rhythm. We saw this in the opening Premier League fixture of the season on Monday against Burnley, and a big part of this improvement was due to Schürrle's irresistibly stunning combination with Cesc Fabregas.
Fabregas' exquisitely weighted pass to Schürrle, who finished coolly past Tom Heaton, was a joy to behold. Following that goal, Schürrle was playing incredibly well and ended the game with five shots (only Wayne Rooney managed more in round one fixtures) to cap what has been his finest performance since his arrival at the club.
We can certainly expect a strong season from the German speedster, and I can't wait to see him link up with Cesc Fabregas some more.
