African Chamions League - a starless tournament
The African Champions’ League is the biggest football tournament in the continent in terms of money received by the winning team. On top of that the team gets a star and it is likely to be declared an African team of the year. That is huge continental accolade. But unfortunately, the way the tournament is run lives much to be desired. Hunt lamented the unprofessionalism displayed by organizers, officials and teams participating in the tournament. The once powerful houses of African football such as Esperance, Al Ahly, TP Mazembe and others have over the years dropped the standard. The irony about this tournament is that the winner gets a star but all African stars do not partake in the competition. They are all taken by the European clubs. We only see them in the European Champions League.
