With uncertainty still looming as to when the next Africa Cup of Nations will be held, the dates for the 2025 edition of the continental spectacle have reportedly been revealed.

The 2023 AFCON in the Ivory Coast was one for the ages as the competition provided everything a football lover wants to see in a tournament of that nature.
It was characterised by quality football, spectacular goals and lots of late drama, with the host nation ultimately able to rejoice hosting a successful AFCON by being crowned its winners.
For as great a spectacle as the latest one was, many now have high hopes for the next edition, which is set to be held in Morocco in 2025, but during Patrice Motsepe's latest press conference in the Ivory Coast, the ex-Mamelodi Sundowns chairman claimed that he could not verify when the north Africans will welcome the continent to its iteration of AFCON.
For a while, it was suggested that it would be held during the European summer, but this would create a few issues as FIFA also plan to host the revamped FIFA Club World Cup during this same time frame.
This, however, has seemingly not deterred the 1976 African champions from hosting it then as, according to Actu Foot Afrique, it has been decided that the 35th edition of the AFCON will be held between 23 July and 21 August that year.

CAF is expected to finalise and confirm the official dates when their executives convene for their general assembly later this year, but if these are indeed the dates the continental showpiece will be taking place on, then it would mean that African stars plying their trade in Europe could miss the start of the 2025/26 season for their respective clubs.
