OFFICIAL: Polokwane City Promoted To The DStv Prem

Polokwane City were crowned champions and gained automatic promotion on goal difference after thrashing Pretoria Callies 4-0 on Sunday afternoon at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Bulelani Nikani got the opener for Polokwane in the first quarter of an hour and Puleng Marema gave them a two-goal cushion on the half-hour mark.

Rise and Shine ran away with the game on the stroke of half-time as Francis Baloyi and Samuel Bafana Nana got two quick goals to give them a commanding 4-0 lead going to the break.

City finished at the top, equal on points with Cape Town Spurs but won the league and promotion with a superior goal difference.

Cape Town Spurs 1-1 University of Pretoria

Cape Town Spurs missed out on automatic promotion on goal difference after a 1-1 draw against University of Pretoria on Sunday afternoon at Athlone Stadium.

The first stanza did not produce much goal-mouth action and Spurs only increased their intensity in the closing stages as second-half substitute, Orlando Pirates loanee had a big chance on 73 minutes after he got a cushioned pass in the six-yard box but scooped his shot over the crossbar.

AmaTuks also increased their efforts and Samuel Julies broke the deadlock and the hearts of Spurs four minutes later with a thunderbolt that gave goalkeeper Lincoln Vyver no chance.

Therlo Moosa equalised for Shaun Bartlett's charges in stoppage time but it was not enough, as the Cape Town side were edged at the top of the table on goal difference by Polokwane City.

Spurs finished second and will get a second bite of the cherry in the promotion play-offs.

All Stars 2-2 Casric Stars

Casric Stars missed out on automatic promotion on the final match-day after they were held to a 2-2 draw by All Stars on Sunday afternoon at Tsakane Stadium.

Menzi Ndwandwe broke the deadlock for All Stars on 25 minutes and Ndwandwe quickly doubled their lead and got his brace six minutes later.

Sihle Gum pulled a goal back for Casric four minutes before the interval and Lehlohonolo Mojela levelled matters with 20 minutes remaining.

Casric needed another goal to win promotion but a point meant they finished in third spot, just a point behind champions Polokwane City and Cape Town Spurs, who were separated by goal difference.

Casric will contest the promotion play-offs for a second bite of the cherry.

Final results:

Hungry Lions FC 1-2 Magesi FC

JDR Stars 5-0 Platinum City Rovers

Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila 0-1 Baroka FC

Uthongathi 4-4 NB La Masia

Venda Football Academy 1-0 Black Leopards
