Moroka Swallows have confirmed Andile Jali, Gabadinho Mhango and Dumisani Zuma are part of their list of released players.

Jali's agent Mike Makaab has come out and criticised the release of his player, pointing out that the South African legend was injured when Swallows failed to honour their match against Mamelodi Sundowns in December.

Swallows had recently concluded a disciplinary hearing over an ‘illegal strike’ by the players due to unpaid salaries which saw the club fail to also honour a fixture against Golden Arrows in late December.

As a consequence, the Dube Birds were fined R1 million by the league with R400 000 payable and R600 000 suspended while 3-0 score-lines were issued in favour of Masandawana and Abafana Besthende.

Agent Makaab stated that he is contesting what happened to Jali because the player was not part of the Swallows player strike.

“Andile (Jali) was one of the players that was dismissed by Swallows with a letter of dismissal and we are at the moment speaking to the club and contesting the dismissal,” Makaab said on Gagasi FM.

“Just to let you know, AJ was injured and wasn’t available to train, wasn’t available for that game (against Sundowns). So, that’s what we’re dealing with at the moment but I’m sure we’ll get it resolved,” he added.

Makaab then went on to discuss the challenge of any player finding a new club after the transfer window has closed.

“It’s not an easy situation because it’s the January transfer window. In the January transfer window, clubs have their budgets, clubs have filled certain positions and they’re not looking to strengthen in those positions, so it’s not as easy as just finding another club,” Makaab said.

The lawyer who represents Swallows, Lerumo Thobejane has confirmed that the club has axed all the noted players on their books.

“Based on the recommendations of the disciplinary hearing, all the 28 players were dismissed,” Thobjene said according to Kickoff.

The Dube Birds resume action in the Premiership against Cape Town City on February 13.
