South African Football Association came under fire recently after the Directorate for Priority Crime and Investigation otherwise known as the Hawks, raided its offices recently.

Documents, laptops, external hard drives, and a USB were seized as SAFA president Dr Danny Jordaan has been fingered in R1.3 million corruption probe, including the alleged misuse of funds for personal gain, according to the Sunday World.

Jordaan, whose tenure was heavily criticised and fiercely contested the last election in June 2022, has had some football fans call for a change of guard at the federation.

CAF spokesperson Luxulo September said it will be ‘pre-emptive’ to suggest that Jordaan should step down, and believes everyone is innocent until proven guilty.

“We are not at that level of talking about all those things, that’s pre-emptive. Purely now, factual statement, CAF has written to SAFA, they are aware of the matters CAF has raised and anything is speculative,” September said in an interview with GameOn on Radio 2000

“I don’t think it’s right for us to be speculative either way at the moment. I wouldn’t be in a position to talk about what would happen thereafter because I don’t know, we don’t know what would be contained in there (the documents).

“I think it’s also fair that people are presumed innocent in any situation, and CAF’s statement and the letter was not accusing anyone of anything and I think it’s only fair that CAF ask these questions,” September said.
