Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune may have shown that he can still deliver when he played in the Carling Cup earlier this month, but the waiting continues as the club opened up on what the latest is on his situation.

The experienced shot-stopper was suspended by the club in December and was stripped off the captain's armband after an internal investigation into alleged disciplinary transgressions.

Reports alleged that the long-serving goalkeeper arrived for training at Naturena under the influence of alcohol.

When Chiefs confirmed that Khune would be suspended, they did not reveal how long it would be. As things stand, he is on a program while he serves his suspension and there is no clear indication as to when he will be back with the first team.

Khune rolled back the years during the Carling Cup clash in early January, starring for the All Stars Team as they beat Knockout champions Stellenbosch FC at Peter Mokaba Stadium. He walked away with the R100 000 man of the match award.

"The club has put him on suspension. He is still following the program that we agreed on in terms of what he needs to do. We will deal with the other issues once he has completed his focus on the disciplinary issues. He is still there, he is still suspended," Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung told the Siya crew.

"We will look into his matter once the suspension is over. He is an athlete. He is keeping himself fit. He enjoyed himself in the Carling Cup, but you must remember that was an exhibition game. At the moment we are focusing on the program that he has to follow and what he has to do."
