Renowned football agent Mike Makaab has waxed lyrical about Kaizer Chiefs' teenage sensation Mfundo Vilakazi, likening him to the heralded Jabu Mahlangu.

The name of Vilakazi has been the one hogging all the headlines for the past two weeks on the back of the teenager signing a long-term professional contract until 2028.

A constant message around Vilakazi is one that has called for patience for the player to grow into his own at Chiefs and to be given the freedom to express his talent at his own pace.

All too aware of Vilakazi's talents is Makaab, whose Prosport International currently look after Vilakazi's interests both on and off the field.

The veteran agent had some high praise for the teenager, likening him to a former client of his, Jabu Mahlangu, whose prodigious talents endeared him to football fans far and wide.

"The unbelievable skills of Mfundo Vilakazi, not because we represent him but I have to tell you. I had the fortune of representing Jabu Pule [Mahlangu] and I never thought that I would see another player with that innate talent, that unbelievable ability on the ball until I saw Mfundo Vilakazi, he is probably one of the most exciting young players I've seen in this country for many, many years," he told Gagasi FM.

"I just hope -and we'll obviously try and play our part - that he keeps his feet on the ground, but more importantly, that the talent and skill isn't coached out of him, because you've got to be encouraging him to do what he's doing.

"He glides past defenders as if they don't exist and I'm surprised that he wasn't played in a very wide position so that he could unlock the low block but then again, I'm not a football coach, I'm purely an analyst these days."
