With Bafana Bafana's quarter-final clash against Cape Verde in the Africa Cup of Nations drawing nearer, the excitement is starting to build all round ahead of Saturday's encounter.

Even injured South Africa star Lebo Mothiba cannot hold back his passion as the forward player discussed Bafana's famous 2-0 victory against Morocco with his RC Strasbourg teammates.

The Atlas Lions are the continent’s number one ranked side and had reached the semi-finals of the last FIFA World Cup in Qatar, which the French would remember well after beating Morocco in that 2022 semis.

Ligue 1-based Mothiba had featured for South Africa in the 2019 Afcon edition when he reached the last eight round as well, and this time he couldn't resist getting involved with some banter at Strasbourg.

“Ah yes, extraordinaire, extraordinaire! I slept so well, but then I knew, I knew. Yesterday morning, I said to Thomas (Delaine), you know it yeah?” Mothiba said in an online video released by the club.

“You said. Not you Lucas (Perrin), you said Morocco! And now you say South Africa. Only Thomas and I said we could do it, that we were going to do it.

“Since yesterday morning, I’ve been telling everyone about the match against Morocco. What’s more, I wasn’t stressed yesterday, I was calm, zen!” continued the striker.

On whether he teased the Moroccan-born players at the French club, Mothiba admits to the following.

“No, but I saw them and they were a bit disappointed. They seemed like they wanted to cry. I left them alone because they are like little brothers,” Mothiba said of these Strasbourg players who usually feature for the B team or U19 team.

Furthermore, Mothiba was seen in an online post donning the Bafana jersey from the 2019 edition of Afcon and continued to share his delight.

“You saw it? Of course, wait a moment and then we’ll take photos. I’ll grab a protein drink and then I’ll put on this beautiful jersey! And then you take photos,” he said.
