After going in front just minutes into the first leg of their quarter-final at the Santiago Bernabeu, the reigning European champions found themselves 2-1 behind by the 14th minute following an owl goal from Ruben Dias and a finish from Rodrygo Goes.
The Citizens turned things around in the second half after two magnificent strikes from Phil Foden and Josko Gvardiol from outside the box, before Uruguay international Federico Valverde found the back of the net with a stunning volley for the equaliser.
While Toni Kroos might not have been among the goalscorers, however, Guardiola seemed to leave the Bernabeu impressed by the German's performance in the middle of the park.
"Toni Kroos? Oh, Toni Kroos," he said, according to Get Football News Spain.
"He controls Real Madrid in a way that only Toni Kroos can."
According to FotMob, the Germany international completed 53 of his 55 attempted passes on Tuesday, making him the player with the most accurate passes (96%) to play 45 minutes or more.
