According to reports, the Red Devils’ future in European club competitions is in doubt, with new billionaire co-owner Ratcliffe still involved at French side Nice.
While UEFA has relaxed its multi-club ownership rules, allowing teams owned by the same company to compete in competitions, they remain unwilling to let clubs owned by the same group play in the same competition.
This could be an issue for the 20-time English champions, who are aiming to qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League, and potentially the UEFA Europa League.
Nice are currently in a similar position, as they are fifth in Ligue 1, but would be favoured should they qualify for the same tournament as United.
UEFA’s regulations state that the team that finishes higher up on the table in their domestic division will be granted entry into the competition.

Should Nice qualify for the same competition as United, it is expected they would finish higher in Ligue 1 than the Red Devils would in the Premier League considering the fewer places available to France’s top league.
