After Zlatan Ibrahimovic caused a stir with his harsh criticism for Lionel Messi's Argentina, ex-Barcelona striker Sergio Aguero launched into a heated rant aimed at the Swedish forward.
Five Man City Stars Currently 'Unhappy' With Pep
In a recent interview, the AC Milan man slammed the Albiceleste for how they carried themselves during and after the 2022 FIFA World Cup final.
After admitting that Messi, captain of the champions, would be remembered for finally lifting the prestigious international trophy, Ibrahimovic declared that Argentina would not continue winning and stated he could not respect them due to their behaviour.
Goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez was strongly criticised for his actions in the aftermath of the tournament in the Middle East, with FIFA having launched an investigation into Argentina's conduct following their win over France in the final.
Aguero, however, has taken issue with Ibrahimovic's remarks, suggesting in a recent live stream on Twitch that he now understands why Pep Guardiola got rid of him at Barcelona.
"Let's remember that you also behaved badly, right? I remember that we played against [Manchester] United. I was on the bench," he said, according to Goal.
"You were provoking, you were talking back. I think that before worrying about Argentina, you should worry about your country, about your players, who aren't even in the last World Cups. They didn't even qualify, but well, I don't know.
"I remember that you fought with [Nicolas] Otamendi in a game between City and United. You argued with Pep Guardiola. I imagine that's why he wanted to sell you from Barcelona. You disrespected my teammates.
"What's more, maybe you're also talking to me because I was there. I feel like you shot me and now I'm shooting you. We are world champions, Zlatan, and you want to kill yourself. Messi is the best in the world, I'm sorry."
