Spanish tactician Xavi Hernandez has reportedly made a shock call on his future at Barcelona after initially announcing he would leave at the end of the season.

In a surprising turn of events, the 44-year-old has decided he will remain at the Catalan giants until 2025.

A meeting between Xavi and club officials is believed to have taken place on Wednesday night, with the coach's future the main topic of discussion.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the former Barcelona midfielder has accepted president Joan Laporta's "conditions" and will continue in his role.

This comes after Xavi announced in January that this would be his final season in charge of the team.

Since then, the ex-Spain star maintained he was committed to his decision and was not going to change his mind.

Barcelona are expected to formally announce the manager's change of heart this week ahead of the team's LALIGA meeting with Valencia next Monday.
