Former Orlando Pirates head coach Josef Zinnbauer has made a return to the sidelines a little less than a year after his exit from the Buccaneers.
The German tactician had been without a job in football since his decision to leave Pirates in August 2021, but has now returned to the game after his appointment at Russian giants Lokomotiv Moscow was announced on Thursday night.
"We are glad to welcome Josef Zinnbauer to our team," Lokomotiv sporting director Thomas Zorn said, according to the club's official website.
"As we planned, Lokomotiv is strengthening the coaching staff with a specialist with good experience in various championships.
"When inviting Josef, we also took into account that he has serious experience in working with young people and shares the principles of the game that we want to see played by Lokomotiv."
Upon resigning from his role as Pirates boss last year, Zinnbauer explained that he had not been able to see his family for 24 months during the coronavirus pandemic and cited that as the reason for his return to his native Germany.
