The man known as "Jingles" has a rather impressive record in Saudi Arabia, having previously coached the now-Public Investment Fund-owned Al Ahli.

During his time Jeddah, the Kagiso native managed to lead The Royals to promotion back to the top flight. However, he was relieved of his duties by the club before they were taken over by the nation's sovereign fund and kicked off the new campaign.

Now, Mosimane has an opportunity to coach in the Saudi Pro League, and while his former club is contending at the top end of the table, his new side Abha are on the opposite side of the log fighting for survival.

The 59-year-old was appointed on a short-term deal until the end of the season to help them avoid dropping into the second tier  they are currently in the relegation zone in 17th position.

In his first official game as a Saudi top flight coach, the ex-Mamelodi Sundowns and former Al Ahly boss almost got off to the perfect start when his team came up against fourth placed Al Taawoun.

After preventing the opposition from scoring for almost the entirety of the match, with Al Taawoun having more possession and creating more chances in the game, Mosimane's side grabbed what seemed like a late winner when opposition player Waleed Al-Ahmad scored an own goal in the 93rd minute.
