Senegal 3-0 Gambia

Holders Senegal enjoyed the perfect start in the Africa Cup of Nations with a comfortable 3-0 win over ten-man Gambia at Charles Konan Banny Stadium.

The Lions of Teranga settled their nerves as early as the fourth minute as Pape Gueye found the back of the net with a low powerful strike after he was set up by Sadio Mane.

Gambia shot themselves in the foot on the stroke of half-time after they were reduced to ten men following the red-card of Ebou Adams for a reckless tackle on Lamine Camara.

Camara went on to haunt the Scorpions as he doubled the lead for Aliou Cisse's charges seven minutes from the break after a through ball by Ismaila Sarr.

With victory almost secured, Camara completely ended the game as a contest with four minutes to go as he made it 3-0 for Senegal and completed his brace with a curling strike into the top corner.

The Lions of Teranga topped Group C after the first round.

Cameroon 1-1 Guinea

Cameroon got their Group C campaign with only a point after they were held to a 1-1 draw by ten-man Guinea at Charles Konan Banny Stadium.

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana did not make the squad after he arrived on the eve of the game from Sunday's club clash against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Indomitable Lions were also without Vincent Aboubakar who suffered an injury at training as former Rennes striker Karl Toko Ekambi led the attack.

Rigobert Song's charges had a bad start after they went behind on ten minutes as Mohamed Bayo pounced o a rebound in the box to score into a gaping net.

Cameroon, struggling to create chances had a lifeline on the stroke of half-time after Guinea went a man down following the red-card of captain Francois Kamano, whose yellow card was upgraded to red after Video Assistant Referee (VAR review) for a lunging tackle from behind.

The Indomitable Lions eventually capitalised on their numerical advantage after Frank Magri levelled matters with a downward header at the back post.

Cameroon struggled to gain momentum in the dying minutes despite their one man advantage but Toko Ekambi almost snatched the winner with a strike in the box that was well saved by shot-stopper Ibrahim Kone.

Both sides trail Senegal by two points in Group C.
