SuperSport United have finally confirmed the signing of former Orlando Pirates utility player Siphesihle Ndlovu.
The Siya crew reported in edition 1291 that Ndlovu was expected to be unveiled by SuperSport after the details surrounding his deal were confirmed by his handlers.
Matsatsantsa officially unveiled the former Maritzburg United versatile player on Friday and as predicted, also confirmed that he joined on a one-year deal with an option to extend.
United head coach Gavin Hunt expressed his delight in landing Ndlovu, who still has a lot to offer at age 25.
"I'm very excited to have Ndlovu in our team. This is one area in which he will bring good energy in the middle of the park, he is versatile and can play in many formations like he did back in his days in Maritzburg United," Hunt said on the club's official website.
"He's the right age for us, obviously we will have to settle him in as quickly as possible and I'm looking forward to working with him."
Ndlovu's career was seemingly in decline at Pirates, as he made only two starts and five substitute appearances in the league last season under co-coaches Mandla Ncikazi and Fadlu Davids.
However, it was believed he would get a fresh start under new coach Jose Riveiro, who showed willingness to give everybody a fair chance.
To the surprise of many, Ndlovu did not get that opportunity, with Pirates' midfield having new arrival Miguel Timm, who has been preferred alongside the likes of Goodman Mosele, Thabang Monare and Ben Motshwari.
The 25-year old can also play as a right-back but the emergence of Thabiso Monyane, who is currently competing with Bandile Shandu saw the options limited.
In search of game time, Ndlovu found a move to SuperSport and says it is a big career move for him and he's delighted to work with Hunt.
"This is a very big move for my career and I am very excited to join SuperSport United. Coach Gavin Hunt is an ambitious coach who likes to win," said Ndlovu.
"The club has won a lot of trophies in the past seven seasons and I would like to play a part in making new memories and history," he added.
Ndlovu will bring his experience and versatility to the side that is on a rebuilding phase under Hunt.
The former Pirates utility player will also bring much needed seniority in midfield, as Hunt previously only had Jamie Webber, Grant Margeman and Jesse Donn at his disposal.
At right-back, Ndlovu will also add depth when needed, with veteran defender Siyabonga Nhlapo and young Keenan Phillips currently the only natural options at the right side of defence.
