Hunt Praises 'Magnificent' SuperSport After Tshwane Derby Loss

Hunt Praises 'Magnificent' SuperSport After Tshwane Derby Loss

SuperSport United head coach Gavin Hunt had no complaints about his charges after the defeat to Tshwane rivals Mamelodi Sundowns.

Neo Maema's solitary strike in the first half guided the Brazilians to a 1-0 win at Loftus Versfeld, with the defending champions moving 14 points clear at the top.

The SuperSport tactician noted his side's wastefulness in front of goal, but was pleased with the overall showing.

"Ja, what you gotta say. I thought we were the better team…created the most chances. But you got to score against a team like this. We came here with a real patch up team, you know a lot of players out…seven players out from the starting eleven and I got to comment the players, " Hunt told SuperSport TV.

"You know, we kept going, kept going. Ja , you got to put the ball in the net and obviously they got a very lucky goal that tackled and bounced and it fell to the player so a bit unfortunate.

"But all in all, I thought we created the better chances. They can have the ball of course…complaining about it all day. We good, I can't complain the players were unbelievable."

Hunt went on to the praise the team, who were without goalkeeper Ricardo Goss and star midfielder Grant Margeman.

"They changed the way they play a little bit over the last couple of weeks and I thought we got what we got and we're thin...let's just go with what we good at and what we know and I thought it was good," he added.

"Thapelo (Maseko) should've scored, the youngster the first five minutes he went through with the keeper and doesn't score and obviously things happen and very unfortunate, but I commend the players, they were magnificent. That's what we got here, we got a good bunch. They work hard, they honest and all I can ask of them is to be honest with me and honest with the game.

"I always say the game will reward you, when you are honest with the game of football it will reward you. When you cheated the game, it will catch you and we know what happens in football.

"But I believe that we were good and you know we just got to commend them. You know, they how many points clear now, they should be able to do it quite easily now."
