Indie smash hit, Fall Guys, attracted millions of players in its first weeks, and with that a number of cheaters, but they had a unique way to deal with the situation.
Getting the game to a stable point with such a high influx of players at launch was no easy task, and in a bid to not ignore potential cheaters, Mediatonic came up with a crafty solution.
On the game's official Twitter account, they detailed some of their early anti-cheat tactics, and revealed that players would be secretly exiled to Cheater Island.
The anti-cheat system lived in the background and flagged potential cheaters without banning them. Once the developers were certain that players were gaining an unfair advantage, they quality sent them packing.
Cheater Island, according to the official Twitter account, was a "magical place where cheaters could happily compete against themselves for the Cheaters Crown." Of course, this was laced with sarcasm, as they added, "Literally just a normal crown but tainted with a hollow feeling of guilt and regret."
The discussion point came up when the developers revealed that a new anti-cheat solution will launch with the game's next update.
