Sibisi Hails 'Fight & Hunger' By Pirates Group To Qualify For CAF CL

Sibisi Hails 'Fight & Hunger' By Pirates Group To Qualify For CAF CL

Orlando Pirates defender Nkosinathi Sibisi says the spirit is high in the team to fulfil their ambition of qualifying for the CAF Champions League.

Pirates won their sixth consecutive game in the DStv Premiership after edging TS Galaxy 2-1 this past weekend courtesy of goals by Terrence Dzvukamanja and Deon Hotto.

The Buccaneers are in pole position in the race for second spot on the table, as they are one point ahead of third-placed SuperSport United, with a game in hand after SuperSport were held to a goalless draw by Stellenbosch on Tuesday.

Sibisi, who embodied Pirates' fighting spirit in Mbombela against the Rockets says they are well focused to make sure they finish the season in second spot and qualify for the continent's premier club tournament for next season.

"We have to keep on fighting up until the very end you know. We want to go and play in Africa and I think (against TS Galaxy) we showed the fight and the hunger between the guys," Sibisi told the club's media after he was named Man of the Match.

"It was not going to be easy, we scored early and they kept on pushing up until the equaliser in the 42nd minute, it's just the lapse of concentration from our side.

"But I think we're working very hard as a team to try not to concede those silly goals. Going to the change room, we have a lovely bunch of players, the spirit is very high, we know what we can do," he said.

"I think now we're able to show in glimpses but I think we must be happy that we got the three points, we will keep on fighting," he added.

Pirates are back in action when they host Royal AM in the league on Wednesday afternoon before the big clash against Kaizer Chiefs in the Nedbank Cup semi-final Soweto derby over the weekend.
