Madlala is one of the seven people who were present at the house where Meyiwa was shot and killed in Vosloorus on the night of 26 October 2014.
He told the court that he and other people who were in the house had been drinking alcoholic beverages.
Madlala broke down as he told the court how he found Meyiwa lying down on the floor facing downwards between the couch and a television stand after he was shot.
Madlala said he had run to the bedroom after the gunshot went off.

According to him, a man with dreadlocks who was carrying a gun entered the house and demanded their cellphones and money, while another intruder had been spotted in the kitchen.
He went on to say that Meyiwa was brave to go up to the guy and held him against the wall, while Longwe Twala who is the son of music legend Sello 'Chicco' Twala, pushed the alleged robber out of the way and went out of the house as others in the house also managed to get up.
Kelly Khumalo, a famous singer and actress who was Meyiwa's girlfriend at the time, ran into the room, according to Madlala.
The case has been postponed to Wednesday.
