Riveiro Hails Bucs Star: 'It's His Cup'

Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro had some special praise for one of his players after their Nedbank Cup win over Kaizer Chiefs.

The Buccaneers went to extra-time for the second straight round as they defeated their arch-rivals 2-1 at a sold out FNB Stadium.

Sandile Mthethwa got the winning goal for the Buccaneers, taking his tally to two goals in the competition this campaign.

"It's his cup. He scored the winning goal in the previous round against Dondol. Today again, a crucial goal.

"So, it looks like it is his cup. He has done it before and I'm so happy for the guy. He is working very, very well," Riveiro told SuperSport after the game.

The Spanish tactician expressed how proud he was of the players for reaching another cup final this campaign.

"It's difficult to explain. It was a very emotional game. Playing with a very high intensity both sides, with moments for both teams. I think we started very well, but after the lead we couldn't manage to keep playing the same way," he said.

"We were a bit conservative. It's normal also that it's a knockout game, you're leading. We didn't have so good experiences here recently and all of those things. Usually, it also plays (a role).

"I'm a very proud coach, what can I say. We're playing now three games in a very short period, playing an extra-time the way these guys fought, to have the chance to play one more final together to play for the club.

"I'm so happy, I'm so happy for the whole Pirates family for the people that's behind us. For the players, the fans, it's a very special day."
